Rains ~ a feeling.

It has started to rain in Mumbai, I feel a special connection with the rains, it feels like the whole world has dimmed the lights and the spotlight has just come over you. Being a person who continuously finds herself vacillating between being an introvert or an extrovert( wished there was a word for us, won’t call me an ambivert as they are kind of balanced personalities), rains make me an introvert. Introverted in a way that they set me up for joy. Just I and my thoughts kind of have a dance if that makes any sense. It deepens my relationship with my otherwise mundane cup of coffee, and everything starts to look more special, deeper, more pleasant. Any book I hold just drowns me in with the splattering sound of the rains outside as if all the noises have been taken over by the rains. I also enjoy being indoors and they give me another reason to remain inside. I enjoy the rain with a good movie and a good snack in the evening. The freshness that rains bring to the humid weather of Mumbai is also what I love rains for. The backwaters of Navi-Mumbai become a treat to the eye if you go out visiting them. The view of rains falling on lakes is another beauty to relish. My 2-year-old celebrates it with splashing in the puddles, with much reluctance though I let him, understanding it’s his way of celebrating.

So the rainy season is here and it’s time to enjoy it to the fullest.

What your rain favorite activity?let me know in the comments below, I would love to know the new ways we can celebrate rains this monsoon.

Hope you liked the post. Thanks for spending your time with me here.🙂 Have a great day ahead!!

  1. a blogger called Yolanda, from Sweden recently described rain as the sky when crying.. I’ll search for her writing and ping you… I find that she sees and feels the world very beautifully even when it is ugly is does see smiling little things as you do too… delightful, thank you for sharing

  2. Yes Malaika it has been drizzling in Pune too since the morning. I love monsoon and wrote many poems on it two years back!

I am so much like you – but coffee is not me cup of tea. I love people and I love myself a little more.

I can watch sky and the movement of clouds for hours. I enjoy my cup of tea much more in rains and occasional pakoras too 😋

I do miss Mumbai rains though weather is better overall in Pune.

    Enjoy yourselves. Love and blessings

  3. We have rain throughout the year so we don’t have a “rainy” season as such. Standing on the back step with the rain washing over the garden, that’s a special view for me and it means I don’t have to water the plants 😊💐🙏

    • This was an interesting comment Ashley, while I was looking at the emotional side of it you reminded me how many people are happy about the rains on a practical side, rains must be a blessing to the farmers family, as they await monsoon.
thanks for coming by and sharing your thoughts.🙏🙂

    • Thanks a lot Ekta, that’s beautiful you like to spend it all in the greens with pakoras, I also loved pakoras but in those old times when my mother used to make them for us, pakoras are rainy season specials in every household. wishing you a lovely monsoon too. much love💕

  5. Here in Texas it seems our rainy season shifted a bit this year and extended. Passing this time was spent with my daughter hanging out doing arts and crafts. Reading books is a favorite past time and it does wonders to pass rainy days. Lastly, watching movies 🎥.

  7. My short poem

    बारिश की बूँदें

    बारिश की छोटी बूँदों सी हूँ

    इन बूँदों सा बरस जाने दे

    इस कच्ची मिट्टी की

    सौंधी सी महक में

    मिल के बस जाने दे।

  8. Thank you for sharing!!… I have never had the opportunity to do so, nor will I, but I always wondered what it would be like to dance naked in the rain… a question to go unanswered no doubt… “Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass, it’s about learning to dance in the rain”. (Author Unknown)… 🙂

    Until we meet again..
May flowers always line your path
    and sunshine light your way,
    May songbirds serenade your
    every step along the way,
May a rainbow run beside you
in a sky that’s always blue,
And may happiness fill your heart
each day your whole life through.
    (Irish Saying)
